Crusty White Potato Bread

 

Crusty White Potato Bread:

This is a bread that bakes with a hard crust on the outside and soft flavorful bread inside.

 

1 loaf

1 ¼ tsp dry yeast

1 cup warm water

2 Tbs sugar

¾ Tbsp potato flakes

1 ¼ Tbsp wheat gluten

½ Tbsp salt heaping

¼ cup vegetable oil               

1 egg

3 cups bread flour

1 egg yolk (optional)

1 Tbsp sesame seeds (optional)  

 

  • Put in bread machine and choose the dough cycle.
  • Heat oven to 400 °F.
  • Punch down and put into a loaf pan, let rise till double. About 30 minutes. (Or shape the dough and place on parchment paper.)
  • Brush risen loaf with egg yolk and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
  • Place in a preheated 400 °F oven for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce temperature to 350 °F, bake for 45 minutes more.
  • Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes. Remove loave from pan and place on a wire rack to cool.
